ROOFTOP DESIGN
Yale Univeristy: Roof Garden / Landscape
The project included both the restoration of the existing Rudolph building (114,000 sf Brutalist building, which is constructed of cast-in-place concrete) and integration of the new History of Art / Arts Library building. The site / landscape portion of the work was limited, but required detailed research to maintain the integrity of the original detailing by Rudolph and extensive coordination with the Architect to reflect the design of the new building in the exterior spaces.
The site / landscape portion included: green roof and associated rooftop terraces, sidewalk and entrance paving, restoration of existing planters / steps / walls (for Rudolph building), street trees, and resolution of conditions at adjacent properties.
