IS 291: Playyard Renovation

Redevelopment and re-design of the existing playyard at IS 291 was generated by the need to repair staging areas utilized in the construction of the new firehouse (FDNY) on the adjacent parcel.  The new firehouse was expressed in significant design forms / shapes;  which were reflected in the proposed design for the new playyard.  Curvilinear shapes juxtaposed to straight lines were designed in the playyard to reflect the new firehouse,  yet not to divorce from the typically rectilinear school building.  The proposed project provided multiple courts and activity spaces,  along with green spaceswithin a security perimeter fencing.
